1/9/2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Craig Williams (R-Chester/Delaware) was appointed by House Republican Leader Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton) to serve as Republican chairperson of the House Government Oversight Committee for the 2025-26 Legislative Session.

In his new role, Williams will collaborate with committee members to scrutinize government activities, promote efficient use of taxpayer dollars and uphold the integrity of state agencies.

“I am honored to serve as the Republican chairman of the Government Oversight Committee,” said Williams. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure our government operates transparently and effectively for the people of Pennsylvania.”

Williams brings a wealth of experience to this position, including a strong background in public service and a commitment to fiscal responsibility. His leadership will enhance the committee's efforts in maintaining governmental accountability.

The House Government Oversight Committee is responsible for keeping government spending and government action in check under legislative responsibility of oversight and management. The nine-member committee, created in 2019, investigates matters referred by the speaker, majority leader or minority leader. The majority party is tasked with appointing five members to the committee and the minority party appoints the remaining four.

In addition to being appointed chairman of the Government Oversight Committee, Williams will serve on the Consumer Protection Technology and Utilities, Energy, Gaming Oversight, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees.
