HARRISBURG - Rep. Craig Williams (R-Chester/Delaware) announced that his office worked in collaboration with Sen. John Kane (Chester/Delaware) and Kennett Township to secure a $400,000 grant from the Multimodal Transportation Fund for the Borough of Kennett Square.
The grant will fund the Kennett Greenway Connectors Birch Street and Magnolia Underpass Project. The Kennett Greenway is a planned, 14-mile pedestrian loop that will connect existing trails, open spaces, recreational facilities and community assets. The planned loop intersects with the East Penn Railway, which is the current border between the borough and township. The grant would fund an underpass to allow pedestrians to safely cross the railroad and access the entirety of the trail system. Both municipalities have also committed funds to the project, allowing for additional structural and safety improvements along the Birch Street section.
“Creating a more walkable and vibrant community is pivotal for the Kennett area, and I am proud to have worked with Sen. Kane to help make this project a reality in the near future,” Williams said. “I was happy to play a role in this project and bring this funding back to the 160th District.”

This project is funded by Multimodal Transportation Fund Program.
