Williams Announces Over $800,000 for Community Projects in 160th District
September 15, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Craig Williams (R-Delaware/Chester) today announced $824,000 in Local Share Account grants for four projects in the 160th Legislative District.
“Local government delivers the public services our residents experience every day. Police protection, libraries, parks and municipal facilities all require responsible stewardship,” said Williams. “I am pleased to announce state support for these important projects. I note particularly the investment at Shaffer Preserve. Preserved open space remains one of my highest priorities for our communities experiencing rapid growth. As a former board member of the Rachel Kohl Library, I am very pleased to see that we will address the ongoing roofing concerns and help with energy costs. And, of course, upgrading equipment for law enforcement is essential.”
The grants include:
• Bethel Township – $500,000 for final design and construction at Shaffer Preserve. The project includes ADA-accessible pathways, trails, parking, a secondary entrance with a boardwalk, stormwater management, wetland mitigation, landscaping, picnic areas and solar-powered lighting.
• Chester Heights Borough – $150,000, on behalf of the Rachel Kohl Community Library, for replacement of the library’s failing roof and installation of solar panels. The project addresses ongoing roof leaks and future electricity expenses.
• Chadds Ford Township – $110,000 for improvements at Turner’s Mill, the township building. The project includes a new roof, deck and railing improvements, and a weatherproof storage area beneath the deck.
• Birmingham Township – $64,000 for a new all-wheel-drive police SUV and equipment. The new vehicle replaces an aging, high-mileage vehicle in the township’s police fleet.
“Our municipalities understand their communities and their priorities,” said Williams. “These grants support responsible local investments in public safety, public facilities and open space, with lasting value for the residents who fund and use them.”
